ENDURO

Friday 9th – Sunday 11th September:

The Hampshire Enduro

RESULTS

At the start of 2022, with the ACU having just three organisers able to run a BEC, we put our hands up, and set out to put our hearts and souls into running a BEC which had the quality we knew could be there.

Our team of volunteers, for months beforehand, then over 20 every day for a week, and over 50 each day at the weekend, turned a plain stubble field into a paddock that looked like a world round, created a prologue praised by EnduroGP riders as the best they’d ever ridden, and produced four distinct and unique special tests almost universally credited.

Billed as a ‘Festival of Enduro’, our Prologue was enjoyed by over 1,000 spectators, we drank the bar dry, ate all the burgers, and partied to a live band before welcoming the ISDE Trophy onto British soil for the first time in 69 years.

We didn’t have the world's best enduro going, but the vast majority of riders found their groove with four amazing special tests, all on exclusive private venues and built by club members with countless ISDE medals as experience.

We tried to bring something new to the BEC, and we thank each and every rider who respected our efforts, adhered to our rules, and praised our officials.

We’ve had some amazing feedback from riders in all classes who loved every moment, so to our our whole Witley MCC family, our sister club Normandy, and those countless volunteers from across the South East Enduro Combine – Thank You.

PROGRAMME

------------------------------------

From 9th - 11th September, British Enduro will descend on Odiham and North Hampshire for Rounds 5 and 6 of the 2022 ACU Michelin British Enduro Championship.

The Hampshire Enduro is a three-day festival of enduro from 9th-11th September, based at Down Farm, Odiham. Starting on Friday evening, Championship and Expert Riders will test their skills in a ‘Prologue’ event which takes inspiration from the Red Bull Straight Rhythm format. With a live band, beer tent and podium presentation, everyone will be able to enjoy close competition over a short man-made course, including logs, skips, tyres and more.

On Saturday and Sunday, riders will be treated to a 65 mile lap, including public highway (50% metalled/ 50% unmetalled), taking in some of the best scenery across North Hampshire. From the Start at Down Farm, riders will travel to the technical Enduro Test set in brand new, virgin forest. ISDE Gold Medallist Dan Alldred and family are well known for setting out exceptional flowing tests which will challenge even the most competent of riders. NB: Strictly no spectators or supporters at the Enduro Test during competition.

From the Enduro Test, riders head south to the first check with an option to refuel, before travelling to Cannons Hill Raceway which plays host to the MX Test. This old school style MX track, together with undulating fields, natural stream and grassy banks will come together under Rob Mussell and the ever enthusiastic Normandy MCC Team to test riders' MX ability.

After a final liaison, riders will journey north, through the market town of Alton back to the start area, where BEC Veteran Neil Bowker will have plotted the final XC Test at the start venue for easy reach by spectators. Modelled on the very best of Witley MCC’s infamous October Special Tests and Motoduro course, the golden stubble fields and mixed woodland of Down Farm will come together to deliver an exceptional final special test.

Riders will complete two laps each day, giving six special tests per round. Special Tests will be available to walk from 1000 Thursday 8th September and overnight camping will be open at Down Farm from Thursday evening.

Drawing on 98 years of experience as Witley and District MCC approaches its 100th anniversary, the Team have worked hard to bring this event forward and would like to thank those who have already pledged their support. As ever, we are a volunteer club working for the love of our sport, so any offers of help will be gratefully received and we look forward to welcoming you all to Down Farm in September.

A huge amount of effort is needed to get this event off the ground. All help from 5th - 12th September welcomed! And beforehand to pull it all together. Thanks to those who’ve been helping already and offered support.

Please look out for news on Facebook and check back here for the latest developments.
