Witley 100 Long Distance Trial
LAST FEW ENTRIES
NOW REMAINING...
OBSERVERS! HELP REQUIRED PLEASE!
Clerk of the Course: Ian George
MSUK Officer: Roger Brown
Secretary: Tristan Robinson
This year, the ever-popular Witley 100 LDT will enjoy 100 miles of byways and country lanes, spanning the three counties of Hampshire, Berkshire and Wiltshire.
From the stubble fields of Odiham, passing through the Candover Valley towards Western Basingstoke, the route takes riders across to Overton and Whitchurch, before heading into Test Valley and across into Wiltshire. The route circles back across the stunning Hampshire Downs ridgeway and into Kingsclere, before pushing up through Oakley and Deane and heading back to Odiham via Five Ways.
The event is open to all road-registered machines with classes for Pre-67 historic bikes, Trail bikes (Freeride, Pampera, XTrainer etc.) and Enduro bikes (EXC, EC, TE, FE, RR etc.). There are two fuel stations on route.
Calvert Caterers will be in attendance and for just £7 you can add 'Breakfast in a Box' to your entry, including egg, bacon, sausage, beans, tomato, mushrooms and a tea or coffee to help keep your feet up throughout the day.
NB: THERE WILL BE NO ENTRIES ON THE DAY.
The course is set, the byway notices are up, and the team have worked hard to bring you all another fantastic event. Please see below the Riders' List and Final Instructions which we ask you read with care.
We also ask that you are mindful of the current fuel situation. When you receive your roadbook on Wednesday, take the time to read it in detail as there are extra fuel stations on route. You should be prepared, though, to take additional fuel with you or fit a larger tank if necessary.
See you on Sunday 17th!
Thank you all to the vast majority of riders who rode responsibly today and enjoyed the fantastic scenery and sections of the Witley 100 Long Distance Trial.
To the small group of riders racing around villages, and pulling dangerous wheelies past someone’s home, there have been significant complaints and your actions led to competitors following you being verbally abused and run off the road by understandably irate local residents. This ended those riders' day through no fault of their own.
Your actions mean that we will no longer be able to use those lanes for the foreseeable future, putting the event at risk. If we run the event next year, we will have to plot an entirely new route, which takes a huge amount of additional time and effort.
While the course closers were trying to pack up the event, we also had to speak to the Police to deal with the fallout of your actions.
All our events are run by volunteers in their spare time. Our officials put themselves under legally binding responsibilities with the Police, Local Councils, Highway Authorities, MSUK and ACU. Irresponsible actions by riders mean that less people are willing to put themselves forward for these positions, risking all events, not just the Witley 100 LDT.
